15th August, Independence Day Celebration

The children of Class IV had visited personnel from the armed forces, police and fire brigade to say ‘thank you’ for serving the community and for making us feel safe.

As part of their Swadesh theme, they have read about Tipu Sultan, researched on biographies of other great personalities of our Motherland. They have learnt to write ‘thank you’ letters.

They made cards with thank you notes and on Independence Day had met some of the people of the community whom we often forget to show our appreciation.

Christmas couldn't have been merrier for kids in Usha Martin Schools across India. While the khichuri got stirred outdoors, “On the spot” quizzes on what they had learned on food and cooking in class added to the flurry. The School Heads took up the ladles and mixed in the veggies and the yummy khichuri turned a golden yellow. Then came Santa ready to serve. This was actually a part of the curriculum - “practicals” one can say. Putting into practice lessons learnt in class on food preparation and food preservation as part of their EVA.
